Walk
through light
forest then traverse the spectacular and beautiful Nattai Gorge near
Mittagong.
Lunch at Boxvale Creek then back to the cars along the historic tramway
alignment. All on track but a steep climb out of the gorge. About 4

Orroral campground along walking track to Orroral valley, climb to high
spot
above Orroral Tor. After descent to the Tor and a scramble up it,

Saturday we
drive to Pidgeon House and climb its ladders for a view over the
Budawangs
before going to Yadboro for camping. The Sunday walk is a climb of
Byangee

Sassafras to
camp on (or near) Quilty’s Mountain. Mostly on track. Day 2,

Day 3, explore the ruined dam on Endrick river and return to Sassafras
on track
or via Galbraith’s route depending on conditions and group.

never been to Long Point, so let’s do it whilst waiting for

Dead Horse Gap
an easy access onto the level southern extension of the Main Range
– and to
great views all round. Suitable for trying your
‘hand’ on snow without the need

This
walk is south
of Captains Flat in the Tallaganda National Park. It is a wander,
mostly off
track, along ridges through light, open forest and along the wide open
valley
of Wild Cattle Creek and other watercourses. About 4 hrs actual

Starting
in Monga National Park beyond Braidwood, we follow River Forest Road
(closed to
cars) and Boundary Fire Trail south of where we went in June to some
high
points on the escarpment which should have good views towards the coast
and
nearby ranges. We may go off track to hills 642 502 and 644 501 (1 km
return)
but this diversion will be optional. Note: there are several short but
steep
sections on the fire trail. Maps: Monga,

the car park
just off Woolcara Lane at the entrance to the Yanununbeyan Conservation
Area,
we will head off track until we meet the Foxlow fire trail, then about
2km up
Foxlow itself for lunch. Return initially along the fire trail then
swing off
track along a ridge through attractive light forest to end the day.
Short car

from Yadboro via Kaliana Ridge and Castle Saddle, camp on top, shared
gourmet
meal in the evening at a favourite spot, side trip to the southern tip

morning then return. Gentlemen are requested to wear a bow-tie for the

meal and ladies something similarly appropriate. Always a popular trip.

A walk
in the
Tallaganda National Park. From the Forbes Creek track head east of
Hoskinstown,
follow trails to Mulloon Creek, then along the Palerang fire trail
before
swinging west off track for about an hour to the creek and the Mulloon
firetrail back to the cars. Mostly on track. The forest is different
from that
near Canberra. About 5 hrs actual walking. Map: Bombay
