December: Little Ginini
Mountain – M/M
Trace
the line of the ACT–NSW border along the ridge of the Brindabella
Range
over Little Ginini Mountain to
Pryors Hut and beyond. Return to the cars along the Mt Franklin
Road. Map: Corin

Sunday 16
December: ACT Western Border – L/E
Follow a
section of the original ACT/NSW border. See some of the original
markers.
Starting just north of Bendoura Hill head south to Snow Gum Hill, Mt
Aggie and
Mt Franklin. Return via the Parrott Rd.
(Note the terrain is easy the walk itself is
not necessarily). Map: Tidbinbilla

Monday evening, 17
December: Aranda Frost Hollow – S/E
Meet at
6.30 in the
car park accessed via the lane beside 57 MacKellar Circuit, Cook and we
will
walk through the Aranda Bushland, clip the corner of Black Mt Reserve
and
return to the cars via the Aranda frost hollow. No bookings. Map:

Tuesday 18 December: Burkes Creek
and Pipeline Roads – M/E,X
Drive
to Top Flats
via the recently reopened Bendora Dam Road.
Walk a loop, all on fire trail/road,
along Burkes
Creek Road,
Pipeline
Road
and Bendora
Dam Road.
See the spectacular face in the cliff and a cameo view up Burkes
Creek
to The Pimple. Four crossings of the Cotter River as
it flows through
rugged country. Great views up to the wild western side of the Tidbinbilla
Range.
Around 14km and 300m total climb.

Thursday evening, 20
December: Mt Ainslie Quarry – S/E
Meet in
the car park
at the back of the War memorial, on the eastern side. We will do a walk
in the
Ainslie reserve, including a visit to the disused quarry, thence to the
top and
down the easy way to the cars. No bookings, just turn up at 6.30.

22–23 December: Main Range Ramble – M/ME
Escape
the pre-Christmas madness for cool air and late snow drifts. We will
stroll
relaxingly along the roof of Oz up Mt Kosciusko, scramble up Mt
Townsend and
find a nice grassy patch for overnight. Stoves or cold food only. Map:

Traditional Christmas Day lunch on Springbank Island
Members
and their
friends are invited to again try to cross Lake Burley Griffin on
Christmas Day
for a combined lunch under the magnificent trees on Springbank
Island.

27 December–1 January:
Day Excursions from Charlottes Pass
Walk
and explore the
area around Charlottes Pass to
view the
mountains and magnificent displays of wild flowers. Five nights of
shared
accommodation at the Southern Alps Lodge, self-catering, $67 per night
for a
room for two. Please contact the leader as soon as possible to discuss
arrangements: walks, number of nights and transport. Maps:

January: Christys Ck and Kowmung River – M/M-R/W
Drive to
Kanangra Thurs evening for a five day walk on two beautiful Blue Mountains rivers. There is
a compulsory swim in Christys Ck and
possibly also in Bulga Dennis Canyon
(a gorge, not a narrow slot). We will walk down the Uni Rover Trail and
drop
into Christys via Amble Easy Ridge, then exit the Kowmung via Roots
Ridge for
the 800 m climb back up to Kanangra Walls. Short car shuffle needed. If
Kanangra/Boyd NP is closed, we will find another river, possibly the Genoa.

28 – 31 December: Black
Jack Mtn, Snowy
River Falls
– M/M, X
Explore
some of the remote KNP west of
Bombala: from Byadbo Creek a side trip to Blackjack Mtn, then along
Hobbs Ridge
for a couple of nights by the middle Snowy River, with explorations of
the
‘washing machine’ falls, and a placid reach with
rocks looking like icebergs.

Tuesday 1 January –
Booroomba Rocks and Gorilla Rock– M/M,X
From
Honeysuckle Creek, along the AAWT
and the Booroomba Rocks Walk to visit the three high points of
Booroomba Rocks.
Great views! 2km to the west is Gorilla Rock, then south to the car.
4km off
track. Around 10km and 350m total climb. Map: Corin
