14 July In the Shadow of Palerang S/E-M
A walk in the Tallaganda National Park. From the Forbes Creek track head east of Hoskinstown, follow trails to Mulloon Creek, then along the Palerang firetrail before swinging west off track for about an hour to the creek thence Mulloon firetrail back to the cars. Mostly on track. Much of the walk is through a quite rich forest - closer to the coast. About 5 hours actual walking. 15 July Shoalhaven River/Bungonia Gorge M/M
A brisk winter walk to Bungonia Gorge. We will descend the Mount Ayre track to meet Bungonia Creek at the junction with the Shoalhaven. Lunch at the scenic junction. Return via Bungonia Creek, with a side trip up the gorge (time permitting). Return to the top via the White Track. Please note that the walk involves a steep 500m descent/ascent. From Corin Dam Road, head east via Punchbowl Creek and White Horse Flats down 400m to Blytheburn Cottage on the Booroomba property. Permission has been obtained from the landowner. Return via the hills to the south. Around 14 km and 500m total climb. In May this year a number of bushwalkers set off on their first trekking reconnaissance mission to Peru. Hear how they completed the Huayhuash Circuit a 12 day trek circling a group of high peaks that include Yerupaja, the worlds second highest tropical mountain and Siula Grande, the peak made famous by Joe Simpson in Touching the Void. Of course you cant go to Peru without walking the Inca Trail and visiting the iconic Machu Picchu. And then there were the pisco sours

21 July Deua National Park: Horseshoe Point S-M/R
From Dampier Trig the second of three day-walks will take us to the end of a conglomerate bluff called Horseshoe Point. It has fabulous views across to the very nearby Tabletop Mountain. Faunce Hill lies on the eastern side of the Queanbeyan River gorge north of Googong Dam. This walk will start from Wanna Wanna Road and go off track through what is probably open forest to the Hill. There are said to be good views from there and elsewhere along an escarpment below it. We will return largely on track to the cars. A new walk to me, should be 4-5 hours actual walking. A climb of a 1609m summit in Namadgi National Park, with views of (probably) snow-covered mountains to the south and west and (possibly) some snow on Mt Orroral too! There via the Granite Tops Walking Track and the NE spur, back via Thunder Bluff (Grid Reference 735529) then SE to Nursery Ck and the walking track. A fair bit of scrambling, scrub and steepness. July Kiandra - Four Mile Hut Snowtrip E/M
In recent winters plans of snowshoeing from Kiandra to Four Mile Hut have had to relocated because of inadequate snow. So maybe this year? Its a fairly level 6km along the eastern flank of Mt Selwyn through scattered snow gums (burnt but most sprouting) to the Hut (and toilet). Well camp there and do a sidetrip towards the Nine Mile. Bring your camera. The trip will be suitable for those wishing to try snow camping. If we need to relocate again - well, south of Thredbo offers many options. A visit to Mt Tennent fire tower for views. Then north back along the ridge to Spot Height 1008 and south east to Tennent Homestead (this is courtesy of a TrevorB walk description I saw). Continue SE in the Namadgi National Park to rejoin the Australian Alpine Walking Track. Around 14 km and 850m total climb. August Barren Grounds Reserve Weekend L/E
Leave Canberra Friday evening. On Saturday we will do a 20km walk through heath country to the edge of the escarpment and enjoy several spectacular views of the coast and nearby ranges. Sunday's walk to Macquarie Pass National Park will be shorter (10km). We return home on the Sunday afternoon. The Reserve is famous for its bird life and wildflowers. We will be staying at the Ben Ricketts Environmental Preserve (http://www.benricketts.org.au/). Walk Gradings: Saturday L/E; Sunday S/E.
