Evening 11 January: Campbell Park – S/E
Be
at the northern end of the airport side of the Campbell Park offices car park at
6:30pm. The walk follows the track along the eastern side of the Mount Ainslie

January: Upper Belowra Creek Headwaters and Tributaries – M/R
We
will wander in the shade along the lush rainforest-lined creeks that drain the
south-eastern side of Mount Currockbilly in the southern Budawangs range. No
compulsory swims but wet feet expected. There is a superb campsite on a bank at
a pleasant creek junction. Map: Brooman

16 January: Billy Range – L/E-M/X
A
walk that can be tailored to suit the heat of the day. From Glendale Crossing
we’ll use the fire trail towards Brandy Flat Hut to get us up some of the
Billy Range ridge. Cross country for another couple of km to the high point of
the range. Previous walk descriptions have ‘several large rock outcrops’ to
explore. Should be fine views down to the Naas River valley. Back down to the
south and contour to Brandy Flat Hut. Wander back along the fire trail. The full
walk is 15km and 500m total climb but, if it’s too hot, we can just take iced

Garry Owen Drive to the carpark at the end. We are usually located north of that
carpark. Bring your own food, drinks and chair. We normally commence around

Morong
Deep on the Kowmung River. A classic river trip, with rock hopping and

January: Kosciuszko National Park - Mt Jagungal – M/M
Friday:
walk in from Round Mtn along a fire trail through spectacular mountain plains
and snow gum woodlands (slightly singed), via Toolong Range, Derschkos Hut (also
singed) and camp by Tumut River, below Mt Jagungal. Saturday: ascend Mt Jagungal
and explore surrounds. Finish the day with a refreshing dip in the Tumut ponds.
Sunday: return along the Tumut River, then via Round Mountain Hut to Round
Mountain carpark. Fuel stoves only and recommend long pants for the March flies.

January: Kosciuszko long weekend – various ratings
Leave
Canberra mid morning Saturday. Saturday afternoon, do a walk of about 2 hours,
probably the Stillwell Loop. On Sunday, we will offer the Blue Lake/Main
Range/Kosciuszko circuit (6hrs walking all on track) and an off track
alternative. On Monday, I will offer a variety of walks including relaxing
options for those already well exercised. Two ‘everyone bring something’

February: Queens Pound River – S/R
This
trip will start with a car camp by the Wadbilliga River on Saturday. On Sunday
we stroll down the picturesque lower Queens Pound River (where there many nice
pools). If the rivers are low I will move the venue to the Budawangs with a car
camp on the Yadboro River Saturday and walk to three magnificent pools in
Belowra Creek Sunday. Map: Yowrie (or

February: Tuross River – S-M/R
From
the junction of Woila Creek and the Tuross River, walk downstream approximately
5km to camp beside a scenic pool, and return the same way. We can check out a
pretty rainforested side creek on the way. Lots of swimming and a few river

Evening 7 February: The Cotter – S/E
Meet
at 6:30pm in the car park where the Cotter Pub once was. To get there head west
along the Cotter Road, cross the Murrumbidgee (long white bridge) and the Cotter
(short bridge) and the car park is just on the left. The walk has views over the

10 February - Sunday 25 February: Tasmania – Eastern Arthur Range and Mount
Anne Circuit – S/R
Southwest
Tasmania is stunning country – the terrain, the views, and sometimes the
challenges! But it just needs persistence to get unforgettable rewards, and the
ascents of Federation Peak and Mt Anne are optional. We’ll go in via Farmhouse
Creek, giving each walk about a week, going slow and steady. Contact the leader

will be a mix of classic ridge and creek walking in a beautiful part of the Deua
